Task Pool Teams Implementation of the Master Equation Approach for Random Sierpinski Carpets

چکیده
We consider the use of task pool teams in implementation of the master equation on random Sierpinski carpets. Though the basic idea of dynamic storage of the probability density reported earlier applies straightforward to random carpets, the randomized construction breaks up most of the simplifications possible for regular carpets. In addition, parallel implementations show highly irregular communication patterns. We compare four implementations on three different BeowulfCluster architectures, mainly differing in throughput and latency of their interconnection networks. It appears that task pool teams provide a powerful programming paradigm for handling the irregular communication patterns that arise in our application and show a promising approach to efficiently handle the problems that appear with such randomized structures. This will allow for highly improved modelling of anomalous diffusion in porous media, taking the random structure of real materials into account.

Random Walks on Graphical Sierpinski Carpets
We consider random walks on a class of graphs derived from Sierpinski carpets. We obtain upper and lower bounds (which are non-Gaussian) on the transition probabilities which are, up to constants, the best possible. We also extend some classical Sobolev and Poincar e inequalities to this setting.
متن کاملGibbs measures on self-affine Sierpinski carpets and their singularity spectrum
We consider a class of Gibbs measures on self-affine Sierpinski carpets and perform the multifractal analysis of its elements. These deterministic measures are Gibbs measures associated with bundle random dynamical systems defined on probability spaces whose geometrical structure plays a central rôle. A special subclass of these measures is the class of multinomial measures on Sierpinski carpet...
متن کاملCoupling and Harnack Inequalities for Sierpinski Carpets
Uniform Harnack inequalities for harmonic functions on the preand graphical Sierpinski carpets are proved using a probabilistic coupling argument. Various results follow from this, including the construction of Brownian motion on Sierpinski carpets embedded in Md , d > 3, estimates on the fundamental solution of the heat equation, and Sobolev and Poincaré inequalities. The Sierpinski carpets (S...

We consider a class of fractal subsets of Rd formed in a manner analogous to the construction of the Sierpinski carpet. We prove a uniform Harnack inequality for positive harmonic functions; study the heat equation, and obtain upper and lower bounds on the heat kernel which are, up to constants, the best possible; construct a locally isotropic diffusion X and determine its basic properties; and...
متن کاملA random version of McMullen–Bedford general Sierpinski carpets and its application
We consider a random version of the McMullen–Bedford general Sierpinski carpet which is constructed by randomly choosing patterns in each step instead of a single pattern in its original form. Their Hausdorff, packing and box-counting dimensions are determined. A sufficient condition and a necessary condition for the Hausdorff measures in their dimensions to be positive are given. As an applica...
